Pau, 33 years old, is starting a new chapter in his life in Barcelona’s Raval neighbourhood with his wife Judit. As they unpack boxes, they find objects with stories behind them: family photos, a poster of the clown Tortell Poltrona, an electrocardiogram... Every little detail brings back memories, including love for a grandfather who, despite being a Franco supporter, was an important part of Pau’s life at an emotional level. 

This duality of love and contradictions is reflected in El gegant del Pi, an autobiographical fiction monologue written and performed by Pau Vinyals. The piece explores the silences of a family and the weight of inheritance, in a journey that connects private and public spaces and questions how far we’re willing to go to defend our home.
