Easter/Holy Week is a celebration that marks the end of Lent and welcomes the arrival of spring. Some of the most notable events include the blessing on Palm Sunday, the Silent Procession on Good Friday, and the performances of the different Caramelles groups, which fill Sitges with music on Holy Saturday and Easter Monday.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS FOR EASTER WEEK 2025

EVENTS PRIOR TO EASTER WEEK

Exhibition of images of Our Lady of Sorrows at the Sant Sebastià Hermitage.

SIXTH FRIDAY OF LENT, 11 April

• 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. - Exhibition of images of Our Lady of Sorrows at the Sant Sebastià Hermitage.
• 6 p.m. - Prayer of the Crown of the Seven Sorrows of Our Lady of Sorrows.

After that, we will bid farewell of the outgoing administrators, and the new administrators will take possession of their roles.

When this event is over, everyone is invited to enjoy refreshments.

SATURDAY 12 April

• 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. - Exhibition of images of Our Lady of Sorrows at the Sant Sebastià Hermitage.
• 5 to 8 p.m. - Exhibition of images of Our Lady of Sorrows at the Sant Sebastià Hermitage. 
• 6 p.m. - Rosary of Our Lady of Sorrows.

PALM SUNDAY, 13 April

• 10 am to 8 pm - Exhibition of images of Our Lady of Sorrows at the Sant Sebastià Hermitage.

Sant Joan church: at 11 a.m. in Plaça Mn. Batlle, blessing of the palms, procession and mass.

Parish church: at 12:30 p.m. in Plaça de l’Ajuntament, blessing of the palms, procession and mass.

Escola Pia: at 11:30 a.m. blessing of the palms and mass.

EASTER WEEK

HOLY THURSDAY, 17 April

Display of Easter Week floats.

At Sant Sebastià Hermitage: 

Flagellation float, Piarist float and Our Lady of Sorrows float.

Times: In the morning from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

             In the afternoon from 5:30 p.m. to midnight.

At the parish church:

• Ecce Homo chapel: Ecce Homo float and True Cross.

Times: In the morning from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

  In the afternoon from 5 p.m. to the end of the vigil at the Monument.

• Holy Christ altar: Image of Holy Christ.

Holy Thursday and Good Friday during the liturgical celebrations.

At Carrer Carreta 26:

The Sailors’ Float will be displayed on Holy Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

At the Palau del Rei Moro (C/ d’en Bosc):

The Brotherhood of the Holy Sepulchre will display the image of the Holy Sepulchre on Holy Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 to 9:30 p.m., and on Good Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Sant Joan church: at 6 p.m., Mass of the Lord's Supper. At the end, Prayer Vigil at the Monument.

At 8 a.m., Stations of the Cross, starting at Hospital de Sant Joan Baptista and ending at Sant Joan church in Poble Sec.

Display of the Easter Week floats (after the Stations of the Cross).

At Sant Sebastià Hermitage:

HOLY SATURDAY, 19 April

Plaça de l'Ajuntament, , between 10 and 11 p.m., singing of the caramelles performed by the town’s three groups: Retiro, Prado, and Sitgetanes.

Parish church: at 10 p.m., Easter Vigil.

After the Vigil, the Retiro, Prado and Sitgetanes groups will sing the "caramelles". 

At the end, we will celebrate the arrival of Easter in the rectory with the traditional Easter "monfló".

EASTER SUNDAY, 20 April

Parish church: Easter mass at 11 a.m. (Spanish), 12:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Sant Joan church: Easter mass at 11 a.m.

Escola Pia: Easter mass at 11:30 a.m.

MONDAY AFTER EASTER, 21 April

Mare de Déu dels Vinyet Sanctuary: At 11 a.m. mass and singing of the goigs and caramelles (there will be no evening mass at the parish church today). Afterwards, we will celebrate the arrival of Easter with the traditional Easter monfló.
