Sitges gets its beaches ready for Easter
Services will be rolled out progressively until the start of the official season at the end of June.
Sitges opens up its beach season today, Monday, which will run until 18 October. Last week saw the first beach bars and sailing schools start setting up, the aim being to be ready for Easter. Restaurant services, loungers, awnings and other services will gradually be rolled out between now and the end of June, when they should be 100% available. The Town Council will also gradually be installing foot washing points and showers, toilets, walkways and cleaning points from 23 March.
All services are included in the Beach Uses and Services Plan, authorised by the Government of Catalonia’s Coastal Service. The document sets out the organisation and distribution of facilities, uses and services for the beach season, to make rational use of these spaces, conserving and maintaining natural resources and offering services so that the public can use them, and fostering quality tourism.
As for the rescue and lifeguard service, this will be in operation for ten days over Easter, from 28 March to 6 April. The service will be operating from 12 noon to 6 pm at the beaches of Ribera, Fragata, Bassa Rodona, Sant Sebastià, Garraf and Les Botigues, which have the most visitors, and at the rest of the beaches from June. The service closed out the 2025 season having carried out 57,982 preventive actions in all at beaches in Sitges.
The coastal cleaning service, with a vessel that collects floating waste from the sea in front of the Sitges coast, is also set to come into service in June and operate until mid-September. The boat collected 701 kilogrammes of floating solid waste last summer.
