Am 23. und 24. August verbinden sich religiöse und folkloristische Veranstaltungen: Musik, Tänze, Castells, Feuerwerk…
36 intensive Stunden beginnen mit dem Einzug der Grallers am 23. um Mittag, gefolgt von unzähligen Aktivitäten: Riesen, Teufel, Volkstänze und Feuer, erfüllen die Straßen der Stadt mit einem Gefühl von Fest und Gemeinschaft, und enden mit dem traditionellen und spektakulären Feuerwerk um 23:00 Uhr am Strand La Fragata.

Once the festival has officially started, it kicks off with the rumba of the Sitges group La Caleta. La Plaça will fill with a festive atmosphere of guitars and rumba covers that will encourage everyone to sing and dance to welcome the Festa Major with joy and a great atmosphere.

Esbart Rocasagna of Gelida is bringing dances that they create with Mediterranean inspiration and influences. The dances are accompanied by the music of traditional groups, like wind ensembles, which may be a light breeze but can make us tremble like a hurricane.

Open-air discussion: ‘Convivència en dies de Festa’ [Harmonious coexistence on the days of the Festa]
Les Boges dels Gats (podcast of the Associació sociocultural Locomotora 21) moderate this conversation focused on how the Festa Major permeates us, connects and also confronts us with the different ways people occupy the town and the public space. It will include members of the Locomotora 21 group and the Municipal Commission of Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla.

Concert-Dance with La Principal de la Bisbal orchestra
The first cobla band in Catalonia is coming to Sitges as a Festa Major orchestra, with a great show and a repertoire that combines classic festival music and current tunes. The orchestra will offer the first part (60 min) as a concert and the second part (120 min) as a Festa Major dance.

Drag show with Jèssica Pulla
A Catalan drag artist known for being one of the first drag queens to offer shows wholly in Catalan, paying homage to icons like Núria Feliu and Les Teresines. A fusion of the most conventional, conservative Catalonia with rule-breakers who call for lives and realities outside the norm.

Family activity: ‘Teixim la Festa’ [Let’s Weave the Festa] collective mural
Participate in the mural by bringing fabric pieces, ribbons, string or whatever you have to make a joint piece or paint on it directly. If you don’t have any materials, don’t worry. You’ll find lots of them. Available from 21 to 26 August, except for 23 and 24 August.

Transfer of the image of Sant Bartomeu
The Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla Municipal Commission, on behalf of the municipal authorities, will collect the image of the patron saint from Msgr. Rafael Vilaplana, parish priest. During the event, the medals are awarded to the new members of the Corps of Carriers of the Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla Tabernacle. After that, accompanied by the band Cobla Maricel, the image is moved to Can Falç, Pg. de la Ribera no. 13-14, the location designated by Joan Roca i Pujadó, this year’s standard bearer. Once it arrives, a prayer will be held to open the display of the saint’s image.

Festa Major community dinner
The Festa is also experienced around the table! Come spend some time with town residents, friends and family in a traditional ‘bring your own’ community dinner. La Plaça will fill with tables, chairs and lots of fun. Whoever wants to participate has to bring their dinner from home (including picnic basket, dishes and silverware) or buy it at the food stalls set up. It is an open, festive gathering to build community and enjoy a Festa Major evening together.
To reserve a chair (including children), you must purchase a ticket for €5 per person at the stall at the Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla Municipal Commission. The ticket includes appetisers, dessert and two drinks (your choice of water, wine and beer), which can be redeemed before the Glòria Ribera show starts. Limited places. SOLD OUT

The other groups will be divided between the two sites.

Celebrated by Msgr. Raphael Vilaplana Moltó, parish priest. Father Josep Maria Henriquez O.S.B, a native of Sitges, will be preaching.
This year the offertory of the Agrupació Musical Suburband will make the offering to our patron saint on behalf of the entire town. When mass is over, goigs songs to the saint sung by the Cor dels Amics de l’Orgue and veneration of the saint.

The Sant Bartomeu Tabernacle is taken through the streets and squares of the town, presided over by the Rector of the parish church, Msgr. Rafael Vilaplana Moltó, with the attendance of the City Council. Accompanied by folk dancers, graller musicians and the Agrupació Musical Suburband, as well as any Sitges residents who want to join it. The parish umbraculum and the Sant Bartomeu Tabernacle are carried by the Cos de Portants de Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla. Joan Roca i Pujadó, designated the standard-bearer of the Flag of Sant Bartomeu, will be accompanied by the accordion players Jordi Barón Pérez and Cisco Arbonés Heredia.

Festa Major official stalls
From 1 August until the days leading up to Sant Bartomeu, at Cap de la Vila (5 August at Santuari de la Mare de Déu del Vinyet)
Stalls selling official merchandise from the Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla Municipal Commission and the popular dance groups. The official stall will also be set up in the Municipal Market. Check the timetables on the Commission’s social media @fmsitges
Festa Major Funfair
From 7 to 25 August, parking in the blue zone of Can Robert and along Pg. Vilafranca
On 12 and 19 August, 50% discount on all rides. On 12, 13, 19 and 20 August from 6 to 8 pm there will be no lights or music for people with sensorial diversity.
